The renovation of the existing weatherboard bungalow will transform the once modest house into a contemporary family home. The design challenge involves maximising natural light for a south facing block that would be made worse by an upper storey addition. The resolution is to create a courtyard house that can take advantage of northern via the inclusion of a central courtyard. Transparent internal spaces add layers of interest, drawing the eye to explore deeper into the house once stepping through the front door.
